cake pop fail

so during my bridal shower i got a cake pop recipe book as a gift and after looking through it, i thought "how hard could this be?"  well ... pretty hard.  i guess for my first set of cake pops ever these were not too bad.  but i dont make ugly things!!!!

the recipe called for boxed cake so i make one vanilla batch and also a batch that was cookies and cream.  cake pops are actually quite gross.  its boxed cake and frosting mushed together by hand.  they do sell cake pop pans where you bake them into the ball shape.  i had a cakepop where it was done that way and they were way better.  not too sweet and not too dense.

another thing i was told is that my candy melts were too thick and i shouldve thinned it out with shortening.  i thought butter would be an adequate substitute but that hardened the mixture and i had to throw it out altogether.
